DES MOINES,
IA – Tonight, at a meeting with representatives of
Des Moines Citizens for Community Improvement’s (CCI) Predatory
Car Sales Task Force; Dan Nelson, President of Dan Nelson Auto Network,
(via telephone) committed to work with disgruntled CCI members who
purchased vehicles from Dan Nelson Auto Network. Many of these purchases
were older, unreliable vehicles that were sold at inflated prices
and financed with loans with a 24.95% interest rate.
Linda Stanley, former Dan Nelson customer
and member of CCI’s Predatory Car Sales Task Force noted that,
“Tonight’s meeting was the first step in what will hopefully
be a successful negotiation process with Dan Nelson.”
Mr. Nelson committed to assisting Dan Nelson
customers, past and present, on the Task Force by:
- seriously considering their written proposals
for resolution and having face to face negotiations with those
customers whose proposal he initially rejects.
- refiguring their past and future loan
payments based on a fair price and interest rate.
In addition, Mr. Nelson agreed to revise
his business practices by doing the following:
- clearly and fully disclosing the sale
price on all vehicles sold.
- disclosing an accurate and complete
vehicle history.
- putting all promises made by the sales
team in writing.
- allowing potential customers to leave
with a draft of the purchase agreement and the vehicle to have
a mechanic inspect it.
- let customers choose the vehicle they
purchase.
- sell CNAC/J.D. Byrider vehicles at the
NADA Fair Market Price.
Mr. Nelson agreed to meet with CCI’s
Predatory Car Sales Task Force within 30 days to further discuss
these issues and negotiate resolution for individual customers.
