New report highlights need for strong factory farm regulations

The nonpartisan Iowa Policy Project issued a new report titled "Concentrating on Clean Water: The Challenge of Confined Animal Feeding Operations" that outlines specific recommendations for regulations and enforcement needed to protect Iowa's water.

"CAFOs have in many cases contaminated water, and impaired water quality [which] can lead to broader environmental, health and socioeconomic problems. The range of scientific evidence means that Iowa policymakers need to be paying closer attention," said Dr. Carol Hodne, Iowa scholar and author of the report.
