Meet CCI Member, Floyd
Loggins
Floyd Loggins lives near the CCI office
in Des Moines’ King-Irving neighborhood and has lived in Des
Moines for over 50 years. He has two sons and a nephew that live
in the Des Moines area and three daughters who live in Arizona,
Colorado and Georgia. After working for the City of Des Moines for
32 years, he now has his own real estate business that takes up
much of his time. Through his business, he buys, sells and rents
homes. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and fishing.
Floyd joined CCI in 2005 after being contacted
about a neighborhood meeting. He is interested in investing more
money into our neighborhoods and working to improve them. He has
also become involved with CCI’s Diversity Action Committee,
a group of African-American CCI members who are working to get more
African-Americans to join CCI and be involved in ongoing issues.
Recruiting new members is something Floyd is good at, and he frequently
brings new folks to meetings and gets them to join.
What do you like about being a part
of CCI?
CCI works on issues the general public is
interested in. CCI is a good organization that is trying to get
things done. We really do something about the issue – we aren’t
all talk.
What do you think is the key to the
success of CCI?
We put our efforts on getting something
done in our communities. We get to the people in need, and they
line up and join CCI to get things done. CCI is going to get bigger
and bigger because of the need and what we do. We need more people
from the community to get involved.
Why do you think it’s good that
CCI has diverse members?
When we throw out prejudice and race, we
all benefit from each other. We need to work together to learn from
and help each other. We need to in order to make things happen.
