Family Farm Pork & Chicken
Del & Marilyn Hamilton
Latimer, Iowa

About
our farm:
Marilyn and I, along with our three kids, Matt, Rod and Deb, live
on our farm 3 miles from I-35 outside of Latimer. I’ve been
farming since 1971 because I have lived here my entire life and
always wanted to farm. I am the third generation of my family to
live on this farm.
How we
raise our animals:
We raise 200 chickens as well as 200 hogs for Niman Ranch. We raise
fryer chickens because they are more active birds and are also more
flavorful. All of our animals are antibiotic free and fed feed that
I grind. We have also been in the tree service business for 11 years
and have firewood for sale.
Why buy
from family farmers:
Consumers should buy from family farmers to help support the family
farm and because farmers are having enough problems making it without
involving the middle man. Consumers also receive a better quality
of meat and they know where it came from.
Our involvement
with CCI:
We have been members of CCI since 2000. We joined because we saw
that CCI was doing important things with large-scale hog confinements.
I support a grassroots movement that helps the legislators listen
to the “small people.” CCI gives more hope to the small
farmer and the realization that others are fighting the same battles.
How to
contact us:
To order farm fresh pork, chicken, or for the tree service, call
641-579-6246. We are willing to deliver meat directly to consumers.
